  Wow, this was excellent Italian food! From the chicken parm to the toasted ravioli, and even a special request for chicken Marsala, this restaurant was fantastic, the service was great, and they gave our party of 7 a private room. Everyone in our party was very satisfied and raves about their meal. Highly recommend, and if I ever come to STL again I'll be back!

  Friday night -- booked a reservation on Open Table for 9:30. When we showed up, they said their kitchen was closed and they couldn't serve us dinner. I showed the bartender, who checked for us, the reservation. It definitely threw him off his game but he had nothing else to say after that.
  
  What restaurant closes their kitchen before 9:30 on a Friday night?? Luckily we found an awesome Italian restaurant called Basso right down the street.
  
  I will never give
  Del Puerto A Chance
  After that. Complete waste of my time.

  I used to go to the old Del Pietro's on Hampton all the time. It was, for years, my 'first date' restaurant. I went to the new place last Friday with a friend. It was pretty good, if perhaps not as good as I recall. The service was good, and I particularly like that they have a hostess who really takes the role of hostess to heart--not just seating people, but acting as if they are guests in her home.
  I had a house salad, which was okay. Seemed a little light on dressing, and thus on flavor. No, I don't like greens swimming in salad dressing, but this was just more lightly dressed than is ideal.
  I had an entree of steak modiga. It was ordered medium rare, but was probably a little rarer than that. At the old Del Pietro's, delicious steaks was one of the reasons to go back often, but this one did not win any prizes. Not much char flavor at all, but good in general. It was served over a fairly bland risotto, which, while good, did not add much to the dish.
  My friend ate the lobster ravioli with a lobster cream sauce. She was very happy, and cleaned her plate--which she does not often do.
  There was a curious, and somewhat troubling incident while we were there. I wonder what others think? A lady in the dining room had some sort of seizure, perhaps a stroke. Service personnel came around asking if anyone was a doctor. My friend happens to be an experienced emergency room nurse, and volunteered to assist the lady while the EMTs were on their way. They came in, stabilized the patient, and took her out on a stretcher. While I realize that this disturbance did not necessitate comping a whole dining room full of meals, it does seem that some consideration could have been extended to the person who interrupted her own dinner and stepped up to help. Or am I being selfish?

  Friendly family run restaurant. The staff are all accommodating and helpful. The menu is not huge, but they do a good job making what's on it. Similarly with the wine list: it's not enormous, but the selections are well-rounded. The restaurant can get a little loud but nothing extraordinary. Clientele seems to be mostly long time locals, many of whom were loyalists of the restaurant's previous iteration on Hampton

  Once upon a time I proposed to my girlfriend at that time. Later that night, after she said "yes", we went to dinner at the old Del Pietro's on Hampton to celebrate. When we found out the restaurant was closing we were sad to hear the news not only because of the great Italian food, but for sentimental reasons.
  I recently discovered the new Del Pietro's location was opened so I surprised my wife and took her for our anniversary. She had no idea they had opened the new place. We walked in and immediately noticed the nice decor and beautiful and cozy fireplace. The old place had a wonderful charm about it, and they did a great job with this place creating it's own new, modern charm. It felt "romantic" to us which is good since we were on an anniversary date.
  The food did not disappoint as I had the chicken parmigiana with house salad and bread with olive oil and Parmesan. My wife had a fish and gnocchi special that was great! We topped it off with amazing tiramisu for dessert. A wonderful meal.
  The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We had such a nice conversation with the owner of the old Del Pietro's. Her son is the owner of the new place. We told her our story and she shared some stories of her own. Such a neat lady! She hugged us both as we were leaving.
  Definitely check out the new Del Pietro's!
